Machine applique is a fun and creative part of your quilter’s toolbox. In this class we will make a small applique wall hanging while learning the basics of machine applique.
This class is a great excuse to use your sewing machine’s decorative stitches, although you can make the project with just a zig zag stitch.
You will need to purchase "First Time Machine Applique" by Janet Pittman Book
HOMEWORK
Read chapters 1 and 2 of the book. It is an easy read with mostly pictures. Our class will start with chapter 3. We are making the project on page 76.
SUPPLY LIST
First Time Machine Applique by Janet Pittman Book
Sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, and a zig zag foot. Make sure your machine does NOT have a single needle plate on it.
Sewing or embroidery thread in white, yellow, orange, red and lime green. Bring what you have and plan to purchase additional threads in class, if you decide to use other colors.
Usual sewing tools including snips pins or clips, seam ripper, extra needles and extra bobbins.
Pencil or ultra fine tip Sharpie for marking applique designs on Heat N Bond.
Rotary cutter and ruler for cutting the finishing pieces.
10-1/2 or 12-1/2 inch square ruler
smaller ruler for cutting border pieces such as a 4-1/2 x 12-1/2 OR 6-1/2 x 12-1/2.
Applique pressing sheet such as the Goddess Applique Sheets
Bring lunch or a snack.
