The Chubby Charmer is a fun one-day project that makes a huge 14” tall x 18” wide bag. It is 10” across the bottom so there is plenty of room for your quilts, beach towels, baby supplies, etc.  

SUPPLY LIST

Pattern: Chubby Charmer by Penny Sturges PAT0349

Fabrics:

•          48 squares 5 x 5”. Most charm packs are 40 to 42 squares. If you need more squares than are in your charm pack, purchase an additional fat quarter or quarter yard of fabric. You can use a coordinate or the same fabric as your lining. 8 of the squares will be on the bottom of the bag so you might want a darker color.
•          1-1/2 yards of fabric for lining, handles and pockets.
•          if you want your back to stand up -- 1-1/2 yards Bosal in-R-Fusible Foam SIB0033 and ¼ yards batting for handles (1/4 yard x 60”)  SIB910727

If you want your bag more flexible -- 2-3/4 yards fusible fleece. SIB0093

•          1/3 yards Double sided fusible Non-Woven Heavyweight Craf-tex. (for the inside bottom of the bag)  SIB0089

Supplies:

Sewing machine, power cord, foot pedal, and a walking foot if you have one. This is a project for your bigger, more powerful machine – not your small travel machine.

Usual sewing tools including snips, pins, clips, seam ripper, extra needles and extra bobbins.

Pencil or chalk marker that will mark on the foam/batting

Rotary cutter

Long ruler and the largest square ruler you have to help cut the batting and lining.
Bring a bag lunch if you want lunch.
