Class Quilt Binding Workshop **June**

You just got your quilt back from the long-armer ...  Now What!?? There is still one last step to go before you have a finished quilt.

Spend some time with Teresa and learn how to turn that quilted top into a finished quilt. Teresa will teach you how to prepare your quilt and attach your binding.  Binding quilts can be intimidating, even for an experienced quilter, but Teresa makes it look easy.  Bring your quilts that are ready to bind. Don’t have a quilt ready? Bring a couple fat quarters and a scrap of batting and make a hot pad to practice on.


You can expect to learn:

  • Trimming and squaring up the quilt
  • Measuring for binding
  • Cutting, sewing and pressing the binding
  • Turning corners
  • Joining ends
  • Finishing by machine or by hand.



 What To Bring:  

Your project, quilted and ready to be bound

General Supplies:
  • Sewing Machine in good working order.  Don't forget your power cord and pedal.
  • Sewing machine needles size 80/12 or 90/14.  Bring extras!
  • Straight pins
  • 50 weight thread in a color to match your binding.  
  • Rotary cutter with a new blade

In addition to your usual sewing supplies, the following tools are recommended:

  •  Coffee, tea will in the kitchen if you need something to drink.
  •  Maximum class size will be 6

Instructor: Teresa Ess
Instructor Bio: Teresa Ess began quilting in 1998, starting with piecing and quilting by hand. She still enjoys hand work but now sews most of her quilts by machine. Her favorite quilts combine interesting color combinations and multiple techniques. She has completed over 100 quilts from mug rug to king size.
