Class Beginning Quilting 9 Patch and Snowball **May**

Beginners Quilting class - 9 Patches and Snowballs 

Learn to make two basic quilt blocks and combine them into an interesting and fun quilt.
This class is appropriate for beginning quilters and includes new techniques for more experience quilters.

Techniques taught:

  •  Multiple techniques for cutting strips and squares
  •  Chain piecing
  •  Nesting seams
  •  Pressing seams
  •  Folded corner piecing
  •  Measuring for and adding borders



 

Pattern includes instructions for lap, full, queen and king sizes. In this class you will complete enough blocks to make a lap or baby size 45" x 63". An optional second border will make the quilt 66" x 75"

 

$3 for the pattern is payable to the instructor on the day of class. 

Fabric Requirements:

Focus Fabric for snowball blocks - 7/8 yd 

Contrast fabric for snowball corners - 5/8 yd

Light fabric for 9 patch corners and center - 5/8 yd

Medium fabric for 9 patch blocks - 1/2 yd

Border fabric (for a single border) - 3/4 yd

This border fabric may be the same as your contrast fabric. If you use the same fabric for contrast and border you need 1-1/8 yd total.

Border fabric for optional second border - 1 yd

 

Binding - 1/2 yd if one border, 3/4 yd if two borders

Instructor Bio: Teresa Ess began quilting in 1998, starting with piecing and quilting by hand. She still enjoys hand work but now sews most of her quilts by machine. Her favorite quilts combine interesting color combinations and multiple techniques. She has completed over 100 quilts from mug rug to king size.
