Class Embroidery Templates - Let's Learn How

Have you ever wondered why your hoops came with clear plastic grids?  Do you have trouble imagining what your design will look like on your finished project? Join us for a two-day introduction to embroidery placement as we prepare templates and stitch out a monogram on a thick hand towel. 

Session One: we will explore software for arranging designs and preparing paper templates.  If you already have Palette (click here)or Embrilliance Essentials (click here) you’re ready to jump right in.  But if not, download and install DIME’s  FREE Embroidery Toolshed (click here) to join the fun.  We will combine embroidery designs and change thread colors before saving a stitch file to USB and printing our templates.

For Session One, you should also bring:

•          A 2” monogram embroidery file of your choice (sample is stitched with Aliah Monogram font from Designs by Juju … Click here)
•          A knockdown frame embroidery file larger than your monogram (Designs by JuJu has a nice selection of budget-friendly frames… Click here)
•         Don't forget to bring a printer and printer cable with your laptop if you wish to print your templates during class!

Session Two is embroidery day!  Bring your own thick, fluffy hand towel—one that you could use in a guest bathroom—and embroidery thread. We will discuss options for stabilizer, hooping, and positioning.  We’ll also look what’s included in the DIME Perfect Placement Kit (optional purchase… click here for the link).

For Session Two, you will also need:

•          Dissolve-Away Mesh stabilizer (click here) and 505 spray (click here)
•          OPTIONAL: Self-sdhesive tear-away stabilizer (in place of the dissolve-away and 505 spray…click here)
•          Water-soluble topper (click here) or Press-Away Topping (click here)
•          Your embroidery machine, hoop, gridded hoop inserts, printed template, USB, pins, etc.
